Ginger, Wheatgrass, Lemon & Cayenne Detox Shot

It's here! Today is officially day 1 of #30daysofdope. The response from you all has been amazing, and I'm super excited to kick off this journey. Even if you don't join me this go-round, I'm happy to have you along. Consider me your personal test subject, lol!

Since it's the first day and we're starting all fresh and new, I figured it would only be appropriate to kick things off with my favorite fresh juiced shot. It's spicy, and tangy - with a hint of sweet and a whole lotta benefits. My Ginger, Wheatgrass, Lemon & Cayenne Detox Shot is cleansing, clarifying, energy boosting, and oh so perfect for a fresh start.

Ginger is amazing for a whole host of reasons - including it's ability to reduce inflammation, pain, muscle soreness, and headaches. It is also said to be helpful in improving carbohydrate and lipid metabolism - reducing blood glucose and cholesterol levels while helping to boost weight loss.

Wheatgrass is known as the alkalizing blood booster, thanks to the high levels of chlorophyll present. Chlorophyll aids in tissue renewal and skin rejuvenation (great for issues like eczema and psoriasis), while helping to lower blood sugar and boosting the function of the liver, vascular system, intestines, and lungs. Wheatgrass is also believed to be one of the most potent healing supplements, because it contains all minerals known to man, is rich in protein, and 17 amino acids.

The reason I rock with the Amazing Grass Acai-Berry Antioxidant ORAC Green Superfood is because of what ORAC actually means and does. ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity, which refers to the antioxidant capacity of foods, supplements, and spices. Now that we know why I love these 4 ingredients together, let's get started, shall we?

Ingredients
To put together your very own Ginger, Wheatgrass, Lemon & Cayenne Detox Shot, you'll need:
+ 1.5/2 inch thumb of fresh ginger root
+ Juice from 1/2 of a lemon or 1 tablespoon of lemon juice concentrate
+ 1 scoop Amazing Grass Acai-Berry Antioxidant ORAC Green Superfood
+ 1/4 cup water
+ 2 dashes of cayenne pepper

Tools & Utensils
+ Blender or juicer (I use a Ninja with the single-serving Nutri Ninja cup). I highly recommend using    a single-serve blender, or blender that can support a single serve cup attachment.
+ Measuring cup
+ Knife and cutting board
+ Mini strainer
+ Short glass (I like to drink mine from a stemless wine glass because, #fancy lol)
+ Spoon

Instructions
Take your thumb of fresh ginger root and skin it completely. Rinse quickly under water to remove any extra dirt and debris, then chop it into 6-8 cubes. Transfer the cubed ginger to the Nutri Ninja cup and add water. Secure the Nutri Ninja cup and blend until the water and ginger combine, forming an almost frothy liquid (about 20 seconds).

Place the mini strainer over your fancy short glass, and squeeze the lemon juice through the strainer into the glass. If using lemon juice concentrate, measure out juice and pour in the glass. Next, pour the juiced ginger into the glass through the mini strainer, being sure to tap lightly or press with a spoon to make sure the juice gets through the mesh. Discard the contents of the strainer.

Add to the ginger and lemon 1 scoop of Amazing Grass Acai-Berry Antioxidant ORAC Green Superfood and 1 dash of cayenne pepper. Stir gently. Top off your shot with another dash of cayenne pepper for an extra kick.

Now throw it back! SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! EVERYBODYYYYYY!

Warning: you want to drink this shot as soon as you can after making it, unless you're a serious fan of the burn. Cayenne gets hotter as it's suspended in liquid.
